David Reade KC appeared for Tesco before the Court of Appeal in Tesco Stores Limited and Element and others [2026] EWCA Civ 580. The Court considered two appeals from the EAT, both of which concerned Stage 2 equal value Judgments in the ongoing equal pay litigation brought against Tesco. The appeal concerned the meaning of “work” under sections 64 and 65 of the Equality Act 2010. The Court also gave important guidance on the preparation of job descriptions in equal value claims. David was leading Matthew Purchase KC of Matrix Chambers and Louise Chudleigh of Old Square Chambers. David was instructed by Freshfields.
