Littleton is home to some of the most respected arbitration practitioners at the Bar. Members act in high-value, complex disputes across a wide range of sectors. Our barristers are regularly appointed as counsel to the proceedings or as arbitrator (sole or as part of a panel) in proceedings in the UK and internationally.

Our arbitration experience spans commercial, investor-State, and state-to-state disputes, under both common law and civil law systems. We are well-versed in the rules of all major arbitral institutions – including:

  • London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA)
  • International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)
  • Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC)
  • Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC)
  • Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC)
  • China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC)
  • International Dispute Resolution Centre (IDRC)
  • American Arbitration Association (AAA)
  • Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC)
  • International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID)

Our barristers are regularly instructed in disputes across sectors such as energy, construction and infrastructure, banking and finance, insurance, technology, and sports. Members across a broad range of call years are available to act as sole counsel, or as part of a larger team in complex multi-jurisdictional cases.

The confidential nature of arbitral proceeding prevents us from identifying the complex and high value domestic and international arbitrations that our members have been involved.

Several of our members and associate members maintain busy arbitration practices, accepting appointments as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator, or chair, with appointments made by leading arbitral institutions, by party agreement, or by co-arbitrators. Some of our more junior members have also acted as arbitration secretaries.

Our dedicated clerking team has extensive experience liaising with UK and International arbitral institutions and providing efficient administrative assistance to tribunals. We are fully accustomed to safeguarding the confidentiality of proceedings and have established robust protocols to ensure separation of resources when acting as both counsel and arbitrator in related matters.
