• Racha Al Khawaja v TPL Investment Management Ltd & Anor – acted for the Defendants in the highest value employment claim to date in the ADGM. The case concerned the termination of a CEO and the application of fiduciary duties to an unusual and generous incentive agreement.
• Acting for a major law firm in a complex claim for disability and marital status discrimination.
• Acting for an employer, led by Gavin Mansfield KC, in a High Court claim concerning the termination of a senior employee and a high-value and complex LTIP scheme.
• Acting for a senior executive in the pharmaceutical industry in a whistleblowing claim.
• Advising on a substantial bonus dispute in the DIFC in the context of a large-scale team move

James has experience acting in cases for injunctive relief in both England & Wales and in the DIFC.

• Obtaining an injunction under the Protection From Harassment Act 1997, led by David Reade KC, against a senior employee.
• Planon Limited v Gilligan – led by Lucy Bone in a leading Court of Appeal case on the effect of delay when seeking interim injunctive relief.
• Advising on numerous large-scale team moves in the professional services industry in the DIFC.
• Advising a video-game company about the recovery of company property from a departed employee.

James has acted in a number of high-value and complex civil fraud claims.

• Acting for the corporate defendants in a complex case concerning the sale of PPE in the Covid-19 pandemic, led by Adam Solomon KC and Alex Robson. The case involves allegations of bribery, breach of fiduciary duties, accessory liability, and a Part 20 claim for negligence against the defendants’ former solicitors.
• Acting for the claimant in a case concerning an alleged conspiracy to replicate its confidential business model and online pay-per-click advertising strategy, led by David Reade KC and Lydia Banerjee.
