Recent work reflects the evolving commercial and regulatory landscape of sport, including Court of Arbitration for Sport proceedings and complex disputes concerning financial regulation, governance and athlete rights.
Depth of expertise across sport
Beyond football, members advise across a wide range of sports including rugby union and league, motorsport, cycling, boxing, athletics, golf, horse racing and Olympic and Paralympic sport.
A number of members are appointed as arbitrators, tribunal chairs and panel members across leading domestic and international sports bodies. They regularly sit in disciplinary, regulatory and arbitral proceedings, bringing first-hand decision-making experience to their advisory and advocacy work.
Thought leadership and sector engagement
Littleton is at the forefront of modern sports law. Members regularly contribute to the development of the field through articles, podcasts and seminars, addressing key issues such as integrity, governance, athlete welfare and the commercialisation of sport.
The Sports Law Group also runs a well-established Sports Law Essay Competition, encouraging new thinking on topics such as financial regulation in football and the future of governance structures in sport.
Inspire Sports Law
Through the Inspire Sports Law initiative, Littleton supports athletes transitioning into legal careers and individuals from under-represented backgrounds at the Bar. The programme offers mentoring, work experience and ongoing engagement with members of chambers, reflecting our commitment to widening access and developing the next generation of sports lawyers.
