Private sector advisor to the U.S. State Department on various projects, including:
- S. delegate to the Hague Conference on Private International Law in connection with negotiations for a Hague convention governing parallel proceedings and jurisdiction in transnational civil or commercial litigation (2020-present).
- Member of U.S. State Department Working Group on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments – a group of seven private practitioners and academics selected by the State Department’s Office of the Assistant Legal Adviser for Private International Law in connection with negotiations that ultimately culminated in the Hague Convention of 2 July 2019 on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in Civil or Commercial Matters (2012-16).
- S. delegate to a Hague Conference Special Commission on the Practical Operation of the Hague Evidence and Service Conventions (discussed in Glenn P. Hendrix, The Hague Evidence Convention: How is it Really Working? in Private Law, Private International Law, & Judicial Cooperation in the EU-US Relationship (Ronald Brand, ed.: Thompson-West 2005)).
