Professional Discipline

Littleton has a thriving and dynamic Professional Discipline group able to offer top quality advice and representation across a number of sectors in which it offers real expertise.

We are all civil practitioners who excel in commercial, public and / or employment litigation as well as the core areas of the Professional Discipline portfolio, which gives us cutting-edge crossover expertise.  This distinguishes us from other sets, which pair disciplinary / regulatory work with crime or offer pure disciplinary/regulatory expertise in a vacuum.

Littleton members have particular expertise in Financial Services, Legal, Medical and Education regulatory bodies, representative bodies and private parties in relation to:

  • Internal hearings, suspensions, sanctions, exclusions and appeals
  • Injunctions and interim orders
  • Disciplinary cases in front of professional regulators
  • Drafting rules and amendments (including for the regulators themselves)
  • Human rights and public law

Our group includes assessors, panellists and legal advisers to the main disciplinary and regulatory panels of ARDL, approved counsel for the Equality & Human Rights Commission and Attorney General’s Panel of Counsel, and those with specialist medical and medico-legal expertise and qualifications.

Our collective experience includes:

  • General medical Council
  • Nursing & Midwifery Council
  • Health Professions Council
  • General Dental Council
  • General Optical Council
  • Mental capacity Act Informal Rules Committee
  • The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
  • General Social Care Council
  • General Teaching Council for England
  • Professional Conduct Committee of British Psychological Society
  • Farriers Registration Council
  • Electoral Commission
  • Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal
  • Solicitors Regulation Authority
  • Bar Standards Board
  • Financial Conduct Authority
