Dr Johanne Cox joins Littleton Chambers as an Associate Tenant and International Arbitrator

Dr Johanne Cox, a full-time independent international arbitrator who has practised for over 20 years, has joined Littleton Chambers as an Associate Tenant.

Johanne is a dual qualified Barrister and Solicitor-Advocate in England and Wales and a Solicitor  (non-practising) in the Republic of Ireland.

She has previously led International Arbitration practices at top-tier law firms both in London and Cairo and has unique experience of the Middle East and Africa having spent a decade working in the region (2010 to 2020) in Egypt, the UAE and Qatar.

Johanne arbitrates commercial, corporate, technology, energy, transport, infrastructure, construction and investment disputes and has been appointed Sole, Chair/Presiding and Co-Arbitrator in arbitrations seated in London, Dubai, the DIFC, Qatar and Singapore under the LCIA, ICC, DIAC, DIFC-LCIA, SCC and SIAC Rules with magic circle firms, US law firms, and prominent local law firms acting as counsel.

In addition to arbitrating commercial disputes, Johanne accepts arbitral appointments in investment treaty disputes. Johanne has leading expertise in investment treaty arbitration and has acted as counsel representing both foreign investors and states in ICSID arbitrations. Her book, Expropriation in Investment Treaty Arbitration, Oxford University Press (2019), is a global publication.
