Gavin Mansfield KC appointed to the High Court Bench

Littleton is delighted by today’s announcement that our colleague and Head of Chambers Gavin Mansfield KC, has been appointed as a High Court Judge, with effect from Monday 3rd November.

The appointment was made by the King. He will be assigned to the King’s Bench Division and will be referred to as The Honourable Mr Justice Mansfield.

Gavin was called to the Bar in 1992 and appointed as King’s Counsel in 2013. He has been a valued and integral member of chambers for 25 years and served as Head of Chambers since 2018.

As Head of Chambers, he has played a pivotal role in chambers success. He has been an exceptional leader, colleague, friend, and mentor. We are grateful for his tireless work whilst at Littleton and for all the valuable support and guidance which he has continually provided to members and employees.

Gavin is a widely regarded as one of the preeminent employment silks who has consistently won plaudits from clients, colleagues, and the legal directories. This year alone Gavin has been nominated for Legal 500 Chancery Silk of the Year, Chambers and Partners Employment Silk of the Year and IEL Senior Counsel of the Year.

Gavin is served as Chair of the Employment Bar Association from 2015 – 2017. He was also appointed as the Bar Council’s nominee to the Access to Justice Foundation in 2021 and became the Foundation’s Chair in April 2024. Gavin is a Middle Temple Bencher.

Gavin has sat as a part-time Recorder in the Crown Court and was appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2018 – 2024 and reappointed for a further term in 2025.
