Littleton Welcomes Renowned International Arbitrator

Littleton is delighted to announce that Louise Barrington will be joining Chambers as an Associate Tenant from 1st June 2019. 

Ms Barrington a specialist of over 30 years’ experience in the field of international commercial arbitration, is qualified in Ontario, New York, England and Wales. She holds a Maitrise in European law from University of Paris and is a member of Arbitration Place in Toronto. In 2001, Ms Barrington became one of Asia’s first Chartered Arbitrators. She has acted as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and tribunal president in both private and institutional cases over four continents. Over the course of circa 100 international and domestic arbitration cases, she has resolved disputes involving sales, banking, franchise ,insurance, construction, wrongful dismissal , intellectual property, licencing, agency and procurement. She is currently chairing a multi-million dollar international shareholder dispute in London under ICC Rules. 

She has served as arbitrator for ICC on many occasions and is a panel member for HKIAC, CIArb, ADR Chambers,  AAA-ICDR,VIAC,CIETAC and DIAC. She has also chaired financial services disciplinary hearings , investigated banking/consumer disputes and has acted as sole arbitrator under Ontario’s auto insurance benefits scheme. 

Ms Barrington served on Hong Kong’s ICC nomination committee for 6 years and has taught arbitration as an external professor and at law faculty level. She has also taught and assessed senior arbitrators for Fellowship of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators , the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and the Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society. 

She founded and directs the annual VIS East Arbitration Moot and is the co-founder and former co-president of Arbitral Women. She is a member of the ICC Arbitration and ADR Commission(Paris) , the International law Institute and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators . 

She received the CPR Diversity Award in 2011.
