Naomi Ellenbogen QC appointed Vice-Chairman of the Bar Standards Board

With
effect from 1 January 2016, Naomi Ellenbogen QC has been appointed
Vice-Chairman of the Bar Standards Board, the most senior position which a
barrister can hold in that organisation. A link to the announcement may be found HERE.

The
BSB is the independent regulator of the Bar and related entities, in the public
interest. It is responsible for:

  • setting the education and training requirements for becoming a barrister;
  • setting continuing training requirements to ensure that barristers’
    skills are maintained throughout their careers;
  • setting standards of conduct for barristers;
  • monitoring the service provided by barristers to assure
    quality; and
  • handling complaints against barristers and taking
    disciplinary, or other, action where appropriate.

Naomi was appointed a member of
the Board in September 2015. From 2011 until 31 December 2015, she held the
position of Barrister Vice-Chairman of the Professional Conduct Committee of
the BSB, having been a member of that committee since 2005.
